How much do custom invitations cost?

Not as much as you think! There are many advantages to custom invitations. We create the perfect invitation for you as lavish or simple as you imagine, with a price to meet your budget. Since all of our designs are custom-made for each individual couple, the prices vary widely.  Because there are so many possibilities involved in creating a custom invitation set, we don't have set pricing. Typical invitation suites can be as low as $400 or as high as $2500 depending on the paper, size, shape, embellishments, and quantity you select. It is our goal to design the invitation of your dreams while staying within your budget.            

These prices include everything you will need from beginning to end - concept, layout, design, revisions, a printed proof, specialty paper and/or pockets, invitation, enclosure cards, envelopes, and addressing.  All of our customers receive this full service regardless of how much or how little they spend.

What are ways to reduce invitation costs?

There are many changes that can be made to custom invitations that help control the overall cost. Using black ink, sticking with a single layer, using artwork instead of embellishments, and assembling yourself all will help to keep the cost down. Your designer can discuss this further during your initial consultation.

How does the process of custom design invitations work?

When should I place my order?

With custom design work, it is never too soon to get started. We encourage you to set up your initial consultation as soon as possible. Ideally, your invitations should be ready to mail 6-8 weeks before your event date. Prior to that, plan for the process to take anywhere from a couple of weeks to a month, or longer depending on the complexity of your project. This is only an estimate and varies greatly from person to person. We recommend ordering your invitations 4-5 months ahead of your wedding date to ensure ample time for the creative process, although rush jobs can be done for an additional fee.

Designs for wedding day items such as ceremony programs, placecards, and menus will take place in the months and weeks leading up to your wedding, as the details are often finalized just before the event.

Can we still work together even if I do not live in the Iowa City/Coralville area?

Thanks to modern technology, Zephyr Weddings can work with you no matter where you live. Since most of our interaction will be through e-mail, it is always easy to find a way to work together that fits with your schedule. Past projects have been completed for clients all over the state of Iowa, and throughout the United States with no problems. If you are visiting or located in the Iowa City-Coralville area, we would like to meet you in person in our studio.

How many different stationery accessories can I have for my occasion?

Zephyr Weddings specializes in creating designs that fit you and no one else. Custom options are wide open and may include ceremony programs, table numbers, placecards, seating charts, reception signs all to coordinate with the style of your day. We can even help you with thank you cards and holiday cards after you are married. Your guests will be impressed that not one detail was overlooked!

What is your cancellation policy?

In the event of cancellation of your order, the non-refundable payment of estimated design fee shall be retained by Zephyr Weddings as a cancellation fee, regardless of stage of project.

Can we assemble ourselves?

Our invitations are designed for easy do-it-yourself assembly. Your designer will recommend tools for assembly and instruct you on secrets we've developed over the years. If you feel more comfortable leaving assembly to the professionals, we can assemble your suite for an additional fee.

Can I choose different colors or fonts than the sample shows?

Anything can be changed to accomplish your dream invitation. The samples here are to help get the ideas flowing. As you'll see from the wide range of samples, we try to offer a range of colors, shapes, fonts, artwork and styles and offer color matching to achieve the exact look and feel of the invitation you are looking for.

If I found an invitation I like, can you create a similar one?

This is actually very helpful, whether you find things on our website or somewhere else. Anything to communicate your vision is beneficial.

Can you create a map?

Absolutely! We utilize various software programs allowing your map to include as much detailed information as needed.

Do you offer envelope printing services?

Yes! Zephyr Weddings can print your return address and your guests' names and addresses directly onto your envelopes. Using the fonts, the colors, or even the artwork from your invitation, we can coordinate the envelope inside and out.
